At one time Gloversville was the capital of gloves. This is where hand-made gloves originated from and were worn by fine ladies around the world. Today Daniel Storto is the only glove maker left. He is referred to as the man who is to women’s hands what Manolo Blahnik is to women’s feet. Normally he only makes gloves for women, but we have been allowed to place a special order for children! The gloves are sewn out of thin wool jersey which stretches with use, so they can be tight to start with. The gloves are good to use in the autumn before frost sets in. The children have full freedom of movement with the gloves and can still play and take hold of things. We use them for bicycling to and from kindergarten and school, as the children have a much better grip on the handles with gloves than with thick mittens.
